B.Tech. in Civil Engineering

School of Engineering

The B.Tech. in Civil Engineering prepares students to design, develop, and manage the infrastructure that supports modern society. The programme combines strong foundations in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics, transportation systems, environmental engineering, and construction management with emerging technologies that are transforming the built environment.

Students gain exposure to Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), infrastructure analytics, and sustainable engineering practices from the early stages of the programme. Through design-oriented learning, field studies, digital modelling, and interdisciplinary projects, graduates develop the skills required to address challenges in urbanization, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and resilient city planning.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum of 65% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (individually).
  • At least 60% aggregate in PUC/12th or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Valid score in JEE, KCET, COMEDK or any other state entrance exam.
Chanakya Edge
  • Strong foundation in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, and construction materials.
  • Early exposure to industry-standard tools and workflows including BIM, CAD, GIS, and digital infrastructure modelling.
  • Curriculum aligned with emerging areas such as smart cities, sustainable infrastructure, disaster-resilient design, water resource management, and green construction practices.
  • Limited memory-based assessments, with evaluation focused on engineering design problems, field investigations, infrastructure modelling, and project-based learning.
  • Hands-on learning through surveying exercises, structural analysis, geospatial mapping, infrastructure planning studies, and multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Exposure to geospatial technologies and data-driven decision-making through integration with GIS and remote sensing applications.
  • Opportunities to explore interdisciplinary areas including sustainable development, environmental systems, urban analytics, and infrastructure informatics.
  • Strong integration with emerging themes in Geoinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, and digital engineering workflows.

Programme Highlights

  • PEO1: Establish themselves as competent civil engineering professionals contributing to the planning, design, construction, and management of resilient and sustainable infrastructure systems.
  • PEO2: Apply civil engineering expertise to address environmental, hydrological, climate, and social challenges in infrastructure development through responsible, inclusive, and context sensitive engineering practices.
  • PEO3: Progress in professional careers by pursuing specialization, certifications, higher education, research, consulting, entrepreneurship, or interdisciplinary roles aligned with civil engineering and allied domains.
  • PEO4: Continuously adapt to evolving technologies, materials, regulations, digital tools, and infrastructure delivery models, enabling participation in emerging and non-traditional civil engineering roles at regional, national, and global levels.

Programme Structure

  • Year 1: Foundation in engineering sciences, mathematics, and ethics.
  • Year 2: Domain-focused courses with integrated lab work.
  • Year 3: Industry internships, electives in emerging tech, and innovation projects.
  • Year 4: Capstone projects, entrepreneurial incubation, national & global exposure.
