Dr. Bharath Setturu is currently working as an associate professor of Computer Science at the School of Engineering, Chanakya University, Bengaluru (AUGUST 2023-Present). He is currently leading BCA, MCA programs at School of Engineering.
He was a post-doctoral fellow at EWRG, CES, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
He is also a guest faculty at the Department of Civil & Infrastructure Engineering, IIT Jodhpur.
He has published 2 books, 48 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals, 8 book chapters, 55 papers in national & international conference proceedings, and 75+ technical reports.
He has actively contributed to more than 15 scientific research projects since 2009, applying a wide range of GIS, Remote Sensing, and ecological techniques. His work has supported evidence-based decision-making for several regulatory agencies in India. Notable projects include: Integrated Ecological Carrying Capacity of Uttara Kannada District, Central Western Ghats (KBB, Karnataka); Visualization of Ecologically Sensitive Regions of Uttara Kannada (DST, India); Urbanisation and Environmental Sustainability — A Comparative Analysis of 10 Cities in China and India (APN); Visualization of Forest Cover Transition in Protected Areas of Karnataka (CAG, India); and Visualization of Ecologically Fragile Regions of Kodagu District (CWS, Karnataka).
He has been widely recognized for his contributions and has received several prestigious awards, including the Research Ambassador award by Viksit Bharath@2047, Vedant Knowledge Systems (2025); Young Researcher in Spatial Informatics by VIF; Sahyadri Ecologist (2016) during the LAKE 2016 Conference at Alva’s Education Foundation; and multiple Best Paper Awards, presented by Rotary Sadashivanagar & AMC Engineering College (NSRS-2019), IIT Kharagpur (CCIVA-2019, BDCC-2018, WEIZ-2017), and others. He is also a two-time recipient of the Dr. Parameshwaran Research Grant (LAKE 2016 and LAKE 2018) and a Best Poster Award from IIT Kharagpur (WEIZ-2017).
His work received significant appreciation across the globe. Work experience ranges from handling of various Free and open-source GIS & Image Processing software, including GRASS; QGIS; Fragstat; SAGA GIS; Openjump, etc.
