āchāryāt pādamādatte, pādam śişyah swamedhayā | sabrahmachāribhyah pādam, pādam kālakrameṇa ca 

Meaning: “The student receives one-fourth of the knowledge from the teacher, one-fourth from his own efforts, one-fourth from his fellow students, and one-fourth from time.”
