Naveen Bhat has been associated with the centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, at Chanakya University Bengaluru since March 2024, as an associate professor.

He is in the field of Indian Knowledge systems and Indic studies for more than a decade now. Before joining Chanakya University, he worked for Amrita University, Coimbatore campus as an assistant professor.

Bhat has published research articles in Kannada, Sanskrit and English in the domains of Grammar, literature and Artforms. A Kannada translation of Kaunda Bhatta’s (17CE) has been funded and published by the Govt. of Karnataka.

He has worked as Co-PI and knowledge contributor to significant projects like critical edition of Ashtadhyayi. Currently he is leading three different funded projects in the domain of Jurisprudence and Sociolinguistics.

• Short Description: This project documented indigenous conflict resolution practices in India, drawing from Dharmashastra literature, Smritis, and Nīti Śāstras. It examined their connection with community-based systems like Panchayats, temple justice seats, and rituals such as Bhūta Kola. The study highlighted their cultural relevance and applicability to modern law. It preserved traditional legal knowledge and linked it to contemporary jurisprudence.

It aims to create structured IKS reference material in Kannada and English. Content covers Indian philosophy, culture, literature, arts, and rituals. Interns transcribe, review, and organize content into thematic modules. The project supports NEP 2020 by integrating Indic perspectives into higher education.
