Amith Sriram K. S. works at the intersection of law, intellectual property and emerging technologies, with particular interests in how technological developments are transforming established legal frameworks and creating new regulatory challenges. His research focuses on intellectual property rights, digital technologies, innovation and technology governance.

His doctoral research focuses on implementing blockchain technology in intellectual property administration and developing appropriate intellectual property protection for blockchain-based assets. The research examines the potential use of blockchain for the registration, management, licensing, transfer, verification and enforcement of intellectual property rights, while also addressing the legal and institutional challenges associated with its implementation.

His research also examines the intellectual property implications of NFTs, digital assets, tokenisation and blockchain-based creative works. Key areas include ownership, copyright, licensing, assignment, unauthorised minting, smart contracts, digital provenance and enforcement. A central research concern is the distinction between ownership of a digital token and ownership of the intellectual property underlying the associated digital asset.

Another area of research is the relationship between artificial intelligence and copyright law, including questions of authorship, originality, fair dealing, training datasets, AI-generated content and enforcement of intellectual property rights in technologically mediated environments. His research also adopts comparative perspectives, particularly with reference to India, the United States and the European Union.

Amith Sriram K. S. is an Assistant Professor at Chanakya University’s School of Law, Governance and Public Policy. He has five years of teaching experience and two years of professional legal practice, combining academic teaching, research, student mentoring and practical legal experience.

His teaching experience includes Intellectual Property Law, Copyright Law, Criminal Law, Technology Law, Emerging Technologies and Law, Legal Research and Advocacy, Moot Court and Trial Advocacy.

His professional legal experience includes legal research, drafting, case preparation, advocacy and the practical application of legal principles.

He is also actively involved in experiential legal education, mentoring students in moot court and trial advocacy, with particular emphasis on legal research, case analysis, memorial preparation, oral advocacy, examination, cross-examination and courtroom presentation.

The research examines the potential application of blockchain technology in the registration, management, licensing, transfer, verification and enforcement of intellectual property rights. It also analyses the legal status and intellectual property implications of blockchain-based assets, particularly NFTs and tokenised digital assets, through a doctrinal and comparative approach..
