Surveillance Studies, Security Governance, Media and Politics, Indian Political Traditions

My research journey has been diverse. Starting as a Software Engineer in an IT company I have followed my quest to research and work on Indian State and Polity. This curiosity led me to quit the IT sector and take up Political Science as a core discipline at the Masters level and at the Doctorate level. While pursuing my PhD, I got exposed to the political theories of the Western and Indian traditions. Keeping in sync with my technical expertise, I took up the theme of technology and politics in general and Use of CCTVs in technological governance in Hyderabad in particular for my PhD dissertation.

I have never looked political science in silos and have always looked it with a holistic approach motivating myself for interdisciplinary research. This has motivated me to take myself to diverse research directions. One the one hand I have kept myself engaged with e-governance, public policy, AI/FRT in security governance. On the other hand I have also worked into INA of Subhash Chandra Bose, Social Media and Political Satire, Intangible Cultural Heritage such as Kūṭiyāṭṭam and Folk Deities of Uttarakhand, Comparative Studies of Contact Tracing Applications of China and India, QUAD and Indo-Pacific.

I have not confined myself to any particular domain but have looked at problems and realistically approaching to these with my methodologically oriented research. My future research quest will be broadly aligned to three major themes. First is integration of technology and politics which includes technologies in internal and external security and democracy. Second is Media and Politics which includes the present challenges of Social Media, the representation and depiction through popular media among others. Third is delving into the Indian Political traditions through ancient texts for strategic analysis, and political thought.
