Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan

Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan is a leading biomedical scientist whose research bridges traditional knowledge systems and modern biomedical science. His work focuses on Ayurveda biology, evidence‑based traditional medicine, integrative health, and translational drug discovery. He is internationally known for pioneering concepts such as Reverse Pharmacology, AyuGenomics™, Network Pharmacology, Therapeutic Adjuvants, and AyuSoft™, and for his extensive research on medicinal botanicals through transdisciplinary collaborations. His scholarship is widely cited, placing him among the top global scientists in his field.

Prof. Patwardhan has held several senior academic and policy leadership roles, including Vice‑Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Chair of the NAAC Executive Committee, and Chairman (i/c) of the Indian Council of Social Science Research. He currently serves as National Research Professor (Ayush), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and as Ayush India Lead for the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre. He has also served on key national and international policy bodies, including WHO, NITI Aayog, and CSIR.
