Prof. K. Ramachandran – Senior Advisor and Professor at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, and member of the drafting committee of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) visited Chanakya University and had interactions with the faculty members.
During the interaction, Prof. Ramachandran touched upon the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and stated that academicians must focus on the all-round development of students, as envisaged in NEP 2020, through multidisciplinary holistic development, and honouring students’ diverse intellectual inclinations.
He also advised the faculty members of Chanakya University to remain oriented towards the core values of the institution and enrich the educational discourse through them. Prof. Ramachandran stressed the importance of being rooted in Indian culture while drawing from diverse intellectual traditions and schools of thought. He stressed placing a premium on appreciating the rapidity of change that necessitates innovation in the pedagogical approach.
Prof. Ramachandran was also impressed by the University’s management for their implementation of Liberal Education and integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) within academics as originally conceptualized.
During his interaction, Prof. Ramachandran also answered several inquisitive questions from the faculty members ranging from striking a balance between multi-disciplinarity and subject expertise and the development of pedagogy, to analyzing the role of sports and Yoga in the learning process.
Prof. Ramachandran was accompanied by Sri Gajanan Londhe – Founding Director of Samvit Research Foundation, Educationist, and Yoga Trainer.
The interactive session was chaired by Prof. M.K.Sridhar – Chancellor, Chanakya University; and Prof. Yashvantha Dongre – Vice-Chancellor, Chanakya University.
