Ambedkar Jayanti Special Lecture – “Triple Bottomline of Discrimination: Are Policy Responses Adequate in India”

To commemorate the 133rd Birth Anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Chanakya University organized a discourse on “Triple Bottomline of Discrimination: Are Policy Responses Adequate in India?”, at the Brigade Orchards campus in Devanahalli.

The guest speaker during the session was Dr. Sony Pellissery, Professor and Director of the Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru.

The session was chaired by Prof. H.S. Ashok, Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Chanakya University.

During his talk, Dr. Pellissery elucidated the policy changes in mitigating social discrimination specifically concerning aspects such as cultural stereotypes, performance-based discrimination, and rational discrimination.

The session also witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students who raised various relevant queries concerning discrimination in society and presented holistic viewpoints.

Overall, the discourse was interactive with interesting information and insights generated from both Dr Sony and the Chanakya University fraternity (staff and students).

Sri Saurav Sarmah – Assistant Professor at the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Chanakya University moderated the discussions. The concluding remarks were made by Dr. Charu Ratna Dubey – Assistant Professor.
