About the Minor :
This minor provides a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of the four prime areas of the creative arts – Theatre, Dance, Music and Visual art. The course ensures understanding is provided in a practical as well as a theoretical approach, in order to enable a holistic preview. While the course includes the study of numerous literatures associated with it, it would be primarily based on –
Natyashastra – Theatre Abhinaya Darpana- Dance Chitra sutra (Vishnu Dharmottara Purana) – Visual art Sangita Ratnakara – Music
The course would have numerous projects and assignments to encourage Sadhana and the application of these arts in relevant ways. The course also intends to build crucial life skills like creative problem solving, teamwork and leadership. Regular interaction with experts in the field, opportunities for internships and involvement in professional projects would be made possible. It is intended to provide a strong foundation for building a career in the area of creative arts or applied arts as they form the basis of areas like Graphic design, VFX, animation, film making, event management and more.
This course is not aimed at making the students experts in all the four artforms. They will be able to work in groups, work under professional experts and appreciate / critique performances or shows. But they will not be capable of performing solo or claim to be professional artists. They can however make a clear informed choice of taking up one of the art forms for Vidwat or a higher professional level of specialisation. The students may definitely opt for the numerous career options introduced and explored during the course for immediate placements.
