Professor Poonam Purohit has served as a Visiting Faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur. Prior to this, she completed her postdoctoral research in Indian Knowledge Systems under the supervision of Professor Mahadevan at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). Her postdoctoral contributions include a significant book project titled Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems,” which was undertaken as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Education and supported by AICTE.

She commenced her academic career as a Pedagogy Research Associate with the IIMBx initiative at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, which launched its Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in collaboration with edX in 2014. During her tenure at IIM Bangalore, she engaged extensively with faculty across diverse management disciplines, thereby enriching her grasp of core management theories and practices. Currently, she synthesizes these management principles with Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and delivers courses such as “Indian Management Philosophy,” which integrate Ancient Indian wisdom with contemporary management frameworks.

Her book, “Indian Management – Bharatiya Ethos and Management,” published in 2023, represents a significant contribution to the field of Indian Management. In 2019, Professor Poonam Purohit was recognized as one of the experts in Indian Knowledge Systems at a two-day National Workshop on “Bharatiya Management,” organized by the Centre for Education and Social Studies (CESS) collaborated with Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) and REVA University.

Professor Poonam Purohit received her Doctorate in January 2018, at Banasthali University, Rajasthan, which is the largest women’s university in the world.

Professor Poonam Purohit envisions promoting the significance of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), as she believes they are essential for tackling global challenges and enhancing our connection with our inner selves. The principles of IKS are fundamentally rooted in the well-being of all, rendering their insights universally relevant across various cultures. At the heart of IKS is the concept of consciousness, which fosters a profound awareness and understanding of oneself and others. By engaging with this level of consciousness, we can cultivate meaningful relationships with people worldwide. This deep connection nurtures empathy, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving, enabling us to address global issues more effectively. Furthermore, the holistic perspective of IKS encourages sustainable and ethical practices that align with diverse cultural values, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of communities globally.
