Chanakya Edge

The course is designed to provide multiple options to students to pursue a major in one topic and a minor in another (at least 32 credits points in the minor).  The SMNS comprises Chemistry, Data Science, Mathematics and Physics subdisciplines. Students have the option of choosing any of one of these as a major and any other as a minor.  More generally, they can select a minor from a different school as well, such as the School of Biosciences or the School of Engineering Sciences.
The B.Sc. course is designed in such a way that the student can pursue any option from a wide variety of possible combinations.  For example, those interested in new energy storage solutions can take Chemistry major and Physics minor or those interested in quantum cryptography may select Data Science as major and Physics as minor.  Similarly, students interested in pharmaceutical chemistry may find Chemistry major and Biology minor as a natural choice.

The course is structured in such a way that it also allows students to pursue their main interest purely for the sake of deeper understanding of the subject and subsequently join the research programme in that field.

The B.Sc. course in SMNS at Chanakya University therefore is a unique blend of multidisciplinary training, which can appeal to a broader class of students.  This includes those who are purists and want to pursue research in these fields as well as those who have a more commercial interests with core training in the basic sciences and ancillary training in applied disciplines like, Aeronautical Engineering, Biotechnology, Economics, etc

Programme Structure

  • Chanakya University follows the NEP-based structure with a strong focus on foundation courses that emphasize the language and heritage of our country.
  • The program comprises a total of 160 credits, covering majors (80 credits), minors (32 credits), and foundation courses (48 credits). An exit option after three with a B.Sc. degree with 120 credits (60 major+24 minor+ 36 foundation) is also available.
  • It also offers a wide range of elective choices to help students gain additional skills, while research projects provide valuable real-world exposure.
