Dr. Jithesh Vijayan, former Lead (R&D) at EarthKind Foods Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, delivered a talk titled “Understanding Algal Physiology: One Environmental Factor, One Metabolic Pathway, and One Signaling Mechanism at a Time” at the SBS, on 5th Feb 2026.
In his talk, he highlighted the importance of algae as diverse photosynthetic organisms that play a critical role in global carbon cycling and ecosystem sustainability. He further discussed how their metabolic flexibility and rapid growth make them promising platforms for future biomanufacturing. Dr. Jithesh also engaged in insightful interactions with undergraduate students and faculty members of SBS, fostering discussions on research, industry translation, and emerging opportunities in algal biotechnology.
