Dr. Jomon Joseph is a Scientist-G at the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, working in the field of cell and molecular biology. His research focuses on nuclear pore complex proteins, annulate lamellae, and ER–mitochondrial contact sites, which play key roles in cellular organization and signaling. His work provides important insights into organelle communication and regulation of gene expression.
At SBS, Dr. Jomon, delivered an engaging talk on annulate lamellae and nucleoporin biology, highlighting how these structures contribute to the regulation of nucleocytoplasmic transport of macromolecules across the nuclear envelope. He discussed the various experimental approaches employed in his laboratory to understand the mechanisms that govern this transport process.
