Preclinical validation of magnetic hyperthermia therapy marks a major advance in oral cancer research

Dr. Shilpee Jain and her team have achieved a significant target in advancing next-generation cancer therapeutics. Their work, “Preclinical validation of magnetic hyperthermia therapy for locally advanced oral cancer treatment,” has been published in RSC Advances.

By teaming up with industry, they demonstrate a promising alternative to conventional oral cancer treatments, which often involve aggressive surgery and radiation. By leveraging magnetic hyperthermia, the team used specially engineered magnetic particles that can be activated by a safe and non-invasive external magnetic field. This controlled activation generates localized heat within the tumour, helping shrink cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. The study brings this technology closer to real-world clinical use.
