Chanakya University hosted an insightful guest lecture titled “Navigating Career Pathways in Political Science: Opportunities in India and Beyond,” delivered by Prof. Sridhar Pabbisetty, a distinguished pracademic and public policy specialist. The session, organised under the INDGenius Forum, attracted students and faculty from the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences of the B.A. (Hons.) Political Science and International Relations programme.
Prof. Pabbisetty, the Founding Director of Kautilya School of Public Policy, commenced by emphasising the versatility of a political science degree, highlighting its applicability across various sectors, including civil services, where IAS, IPS and IFS officers play pivotal roles in governance. He discussed opportunities in policy analysis, international diplomacy, journalism, and academia, underscoring the demand for political scientists in think tanks, NGOs, and global institutions like the United Nations.
The lecture further explored emerging roles in political consultancy, legislative assistance, and digital media strategy, reflecting the evolving political landscape. Prof. Pabbisetty stressed the importance of interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. Drawing from his extensive experience at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore, he encouraged students to engage in internships and research projects, aligning with Chanakya University’s emphasis on experiential learning and integrating Indian Knowledge Systems with global perspectives.
