Chanakya University inaugurated its Centre for Social Impact (CSI) on October 23, 2025, at the Global Campus, Devanahalli. The launch marked a significant step towards fostering research, policy advocacy, and community-driven initiatives aimed at creating measurable social transformation.

The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Sudeshna Mukherjee, the visionary behind CSI, who outlined the Centre’s mission to nurture socially responsible leaders and impactful research. The inauguration featured an eco-conscious gesture of watering a sapling, symbolizing sustainable growth and collective responsibility.

Pro-Chancellor M. P. Kumar delivered the Presidential Address, emphasizing Swami Vivekananda’s call that “the educated are responsible for educating others,” and underscored the Centre’s role in integrating social responsibility within academic life. Prof. Rajasekhar D, former Director of ISEC, identified key focus areas—urban poverty and volunteerism—while Dr. M. A. Balasubramanya, Chairman of NAVGRAM and Advisor to SVYM, encouraged inclusive participation across disciplines.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yashwanth Dongre shared the vision of embedding volunteerism and research as the dual pillars of the Centre, aiming to cultivate a spirit of seva across all Schools of the University.

The event was attended by advisory members, university leadership, and representatives from partner organizations like Youth for Seva. Dr. Tukaram Badiger concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks.

The launch of CSI marked a milestone for Chanakya University, reinforcing its commitment to social engagement, sustainable development, and transformative education.
