Krishna Janmashtami and Coronation Remembrance of Sri Krishnadevaraya

The Samskriti Club of Chanakya University organized a cultural celebration on 20 September 2025 at the Farmland Campus to mark Krishna Janmashtami along with the Remembrance of Sri Krishnadevaraya’s Coronation. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff in an atmosphere of devotion and festivity.

The program opened with floral offerings to Lord Krishna and Sri Krishnadevaraya, led by Dr. Naveen Bhat (Faculty In-charge, Samskriti Club), Captain Chaithanya Ramesh (ANO, NCC Army Wing), and the Deputy Director of Student Affairs. Dr. Bhat addressed the gathering, highlighting the cultural significance of the occasion.

A special address by Ms. Sahana Thondikatti reflected on Sri Krishnadevaraya’s vision as a ruler of the Vijayanagara Empire. She emphasized his contributions to governance, justice, literature, and temple architecture, reminding participants of his enduring legacy.

The event also featured the unveiling of trophies and medals for the Mosaru Kudike (also known as Dahi Handi)—a traditional competition involving the breaking of an earthen pot tied at a height, symbolic of the playful spirit of Lord Krishna. A total of 9 teams with 81 participants competed, while about 187 students were involved in the event overall. Judged by Dr. Hemanth (Director of Physical Education) and Akshar KN, the competition was marked by teamwork, energy, and sportsmanship.

Winners included Management Sciences (Boys) and Law & Public Governance (Girls), with runners-up Team Keshava (Engineering) and Chatpata Champions (Arts & Humanities). Prizes were distributed by Ms. Shreya, Assistant Professor of Physical Education.

The celebration concluded with recognition of participants and a reaffirmation of the Samskriti Club’s role in sustaining cultural vibrancy at the University.
