The Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, Chanakya University hosted a seven-day online workshop from 21–29 July 2025, coordinated by Athul S. Kumar and led by Dr. Vinayak Rajat Bhat.
The workshop drew 14 registered participants, along with members from CIKS. Anchored in Kauṭilya’s Arthaśāstra (R.P. Kangle’s translation) and Kauṭilya’s Arthashastra: Timeless Strategies for Modern Governance (Bhat & Shukla), the program linked classical frameworks with modern governance and leadership practices.
Sessions explored the Vinayādhikaraṇa section, emphasizing self-mastery, ethical leadership, administrative discipline, and resilience. Core concepts such as the Saptāṅga model (seven limbs of the state), the triad of Vidyā, Indriyajaya, and Vṛddhasaṃyoga, and strategies for ministerial training and safeguarding the self were discussed in detail. To simplify complex themes, Dr. Bhat used Panchatantra tales and real-life applications, making the content relatable.
The workshop concluded on 29th July with a valedictory address by Sri Saurav Sarmah, Assistant Professor, who offered a comparative perspective by connecting Kauṭilya’s ideas with Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and other global thinkers. Certificates were distributed digitally.
