Chanakya University had the privilege of hosting an all-women delegation from Germany’s Junge Union, supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), for an insightful dialogue on the evolving meanings and expressions of conservatism across India and Europe.
The interaction was marked by warmth, candour, and openness. The delegates approached discussions with curiosity and honesty—acknowledging the complexity of the themes and, where required, sharing perspectives that were still taking shape. Their thoughtful questions, reflections, and suggestions fostered an atmosphere of genuine learning and mutual respect.
The university community gained a nuanced glimpse into Germany’s governance ethos, political decision-making culture, academic models, and youth political engagement. At the same time, the dialogue revealed how future exchanges could provide more room to foreground Indian socio-political thought, enabling richer cross-continental academic collaboration.
A shared understanding of conservatism emerged—not as rigidity or resistance to change, but as political wisdom rooted in institutional trust, continuity, and measured social transformation. This common ground highlighted the scope for deeper Indo-German partnership and intellectual exchange.
The session reaffirmed Chanakya University’s role as a platform where global ideas meet, evolve, and find common vocabulary—strengthening the future of India–Germany academic and diplomatic engagement.
