One-Day Faculty Development Programme on Understanding Gen Z Learners in the Digital Era 

The School of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, in collaboration with the Admissions team, organized a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at Chanakya University to help faculty better understand and engage Generation Z learners. The programme brought together experienced academicians and practitioners who offered insights into Gen Z’s learning styles, behavioural patterns, and future academic and career pathways. 

The FDP began with a keynote address by Prof. H. S. Ashok, who highlighted the fast-changing educational landscape and the importance of empathy, flexibility, and relevance in teaching digital-native students. He emphasized that Gen Z values autonomy, experiential learning, and authentic engagement from educators. 

Session 1 featured Sri Ajay Chandra and Dr. Saurav Samrah, who discussed Gen Z’s demographic profile, tech-driven behaviour, and the influence of social media on identity, communication, and well-being. An interactive Q&A enabled participants to reflect on classroom experiences and share challenges. 

In Session 2, Dr. Sudeshna Mukherjee spoke on the teacher’s evolving role as a mentor and facilitator, while Dr. Sritha Sandon introduced innovative pedagogical tools such as flipped classrooms, collaborative learning, blended models, and competency-based assessments. 

A panel discussion moderated by Sri Deepak Raj Pandaya brought together administrators, industry professionals, faculty, and students to explore higher education choices, student aspirations, and changing benchmarks of academic quality. 

In the final sessions, Dr. Priyanka Dwivedi spoke on preparing students for emerging job markets, and Dr. Naveen Bhatt highlighted the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems in future liberal arts education. 

The FDP concluded with certificate distribution, marking a meaningful and enriching learning experience for all participants.
