Indian Philosophers’ Day (Śri Śankarācārya Jayanti and Rāmānujācārya Jayanti)

Vaiśākha Śuddha Paṅcami, marking the birth tithi of eminent figures in Indian Philosophy, Śankarācārya and Rāmānujācārya, was commemorated by the Centre for Indian Knowledge System at Chanakya University through various events. On April 25, 2023, a poster presentation commenced at 10:00 am, enlightening both students and university staff with lesser-known information about Śaṅkarācārya, Rāmānujācārya, and other Indian philosophers. An online lecture followed from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, featuring Dr. K Aravind Rao, IPS, who retired as Director General of Police, United Andhra Pradesh state. Dr. Rao delivered an insightful lecture on the Gītā-Bhāṣya of Śaṅkara, comparing it with the Upaniṣad Bhāṣya and exploring the integration of Upaniṣadic principles in the Bhagavadgītā. Dr. Vinayachandra Banavathy, the Director of the Centre, further elaborated on Śaṅkarācārya’s works, particularly his Bhāṣyas on Brahmasūtras, Upaniṣads, and Bhagavadgīta. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Vinayak Rajat Bhat, Associate Professor at the Centre for Indian Knowledge System, Chanakya University.
