Inauguration of School of Engineering: A New Era in Technical Education
Chanakya University marked a historic milestone with the grand inauguration of the School of Engineering on 28th October 2024. The event was a celebration of new beginnings in technical education and was graced by eminent guests, including Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology.
The School of Engineering at Chanakya University is designed to provide cutting-edge education in fields critical to the future of technology, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering (VLSI and Embedded Systems), Artificial Intelligence, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Civil, Construction and Sustainable Engineering. The school aims to develop innovative thinkers, skilled professionals, and leaders capable of addressing global challenges.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Somanath, a distinguished figure in India’s space program, emphasised the importance of engineering education in advancing technology and building the nation’s future. He remarked, “The role of engineers in shaping India’s technological future is irreplaceable. Institutions like the Chanakya School of Engineering are crucial in fostering the next generation of innovators who will drive progress across industries.”
Prof. Abhay Karandikar, in his speech, highlighted the pivotal role of academia in fostering research and innovation, crucial for the country’s scientific and technological growth. He stated, “The synergy between education and research will pave the way for groundbreaking developments. Institutions like Chanakya School of Engineering will play a key role in shaping India’s leadership in science and technology.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Prof. Mahesh Panchagula, Professor at IIT Madras; members of the International Advisory Committee; Prof. S. Sadagopan, Former Director of IIIT Bangalore; and Sri Ricky Kej, renowned Indian music composer, environmentalist, and 3-time Grammy Award winner. Their presence added to the significance of the event, highlighting the diverse support and recognition the Chanakya School of Engineering has garnered from leaders across various fields.
Prof. M.K. Sridhar, Founder Chancellor and Padma Shri Awardee; Sri M.K. Sridhar, Pro-Chancellor; Prof. Yashavantha Dongre, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Vineeth Paleri, Director – Academics, School of Engineering; Sri Nagaraj Reddy, Chief Operating Officer; Prof. Sushanth Joshi, Registrar; along with faculty and students, were also present at the inauguration. Together, they joined in the celebration, marking the beginning of this significant chapter in the university’s journey with enthusiasm and pride.
With this inauguration, Chanakya University ushers in a new era in engineering education, one that promises to shape the future of technical innovation and global leadership.
