A special talk was delivered by Advocate S. S. Naganand – Senior Partner, Just Law Advocates, Bangalore, on ‘Changing landscape of Corporate and Commercial Law in India’. The event was attended by students and faculty, gaining an insight into the changing legal landscape that regulates corporations and businesses in India.
Sri S. S. Naganand discussed vast areas relating to the creation of companies, mechanisms for resolving disputes, arbitration, and corporate governance, all of which are vital in the corporate world. The speaker emphasized that running a company is not only about the efficiency of operations but also about legal compliance. Indian corporate laws have undergone a remarkable transformation over time, with historical developments influencing the present regulatory environment. The recent formation of institutions like the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has made corporate litigation more efficient.
Further, he strongly emphasized the importance of legal knowledge, professional discipline, and continuous training for law professionals, highlighting the significance of the use of technology and navigation among the different laws for understanding the underlying attributions of law.
The talk was followed by an interactive session where participants engaged in a discussion on the practical aspects of the Company Law, Arbitration, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law, and so.
