My research is driven by a deep commitment to understanding social issues at the grassroots level and contributing evidence-based insights that strengthen communities. Over the past decade, my work has focused primarily on adolescent mental health, rural development, gender issues, and the evolving nature of Indian family systems. I am particularly interested in how socio-economic conditions and familial environments shape individual well-being and life opportunities, especially among vulnerable populations such as rural adolescent girls and working women.

My doctoral research explored the psycho-social conditions of rural adolescent girls, examining how socio-economic status influences depression, anxiety, stress, quality of life, and interpersonal relationships. This work strengthened my interest in adolescent psychology, gendered vulnerabilities, and rural inequalities, and continues to guide my ongoing academic pursuits. I believe that psychological well-being cannot be studied in isolation but must always be understood in relation to family structures, community norms, and socio-cultural environments.

I am also actively engaged in research on intergenerational relations, family value transmission, and the shifting functions of the Indian family. In the context of rapid modernization and the ideals of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, I aim to examine how families renegotiate caregiving responsibilities, parenting practices, and traditional values. My ongoing ICSSR-funded project, where I serve as Co-Project Director, investigates the cultural role of Halakki Vokkaliga women in preserving tribal heritage, an area that reflects my broader interest in indigenous knowledge systems and community resilience.

Across all my work, I seek to integrate academic rigor with socially meaningful outcomes. I strongly believe that research should inform policy, strengthen institutions, and empower communities. Moving forward, I aim to expand my research into comparative family studies, the mental health of marginalized adolescents, women’s leadership in rural contexts, and the impact of socio-cultural transitions on well-being. Ultimately, my quest is to produce scholarship that is grounded, relevant, and impactful, research that contributes to a more equitable and compassionate society.
