My research explores the dynamic relationship between altruism and relationship satisfaction, focusing on how empathy and selfless concern shape the quality and longevity of human connections. I am particularly interested in understanding how individuals balance giving and receiving within their relationships, and how such prosocial behaviors influence emotional well-being and trust.

My doctoral study, titled “Altruism and Relationship Satisfaction,” examines how personality traits, attachment styles, and motivational factors contribute to helping behaviors within close and intimate relationships. Anchored in psychological frameworks such as the empathy–altruism hypothesis, social exchange theory, and attachment theory, the research investigates how empathic concern, fairness, and secure attachment foster altruistic behavior and relational harmony. By integrating these perspectives, I seek to highlight that altruism is not merely a moral virtue but a fundamental psychological process that strengthens interpersonal bonds and enhances satisfaction.

This research is an extension of my broader academic interest in prosocial behavior, emotional well-being, and the psychology of relationships. Through both academic training and clinical experience, I have observed that empathy and altruistic motivation are crucial to sustaining fulfilling human relationships. Understanding these patterns has significant implications not only for personal growth but also for therapeutic and educational practices that aim to enhance social connectedness and well-being.

Ultimately, my research aspires to contribute to the growing field of positive and interpersonal psychology by examining how the act of giving enriches both the giver and the receiver. I aim to demonstrate that altruism, when grounded in empathy and fairness, can serve as a pathway to enduring relationship satisfaction and collective emotional health.
