PhD (Psychology), Chanakya University, Bengaluru — Ongoing, M.Sc. Psychology, Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, Bengaluru — 2023, B.Sc. Psychology, Botany, Zoology, Maharani Lakshmi Ammani College for Women, Bengaluru — 2021My research is guided by a deep curiosity about how people sustain emotional balance while taking on roles that demand empathy, care, and responsibility. I have always been drawn to understanding what helps individuals stay emotionally steady and compassionate, even when their work or relationships constantly ask them to give more of themselves. I am particularly interested in how emotional regulation, resilience, and self-awareness allow people to remain connected and kind without being consumed by the weight of others’ emotions.
My doctoral study focuses on Compassion Fatigue among Young Mental Health Professionals, an issue that feels both urgent and personal. In my experience as a practicing psychologist and special educator, I have seen how continuous emotional engagement can quietly drain one’s energy and spirit. My research explores how such fatigue develops and how strengthening emotional regulation and self-care can help protect against exhaustion and burnout. I hope to understand what helps young professionals in the helping fields continue their work with empathy, clarity, and strength.
More broadly, my research seeks to contribute to what I call the psychology of emotional sustainability — an effort to understand how people can care deeply for others without losing connection to themselves. I aspire to create culturally grounded wellness models that combine psychological insights with holistic healing practices rooted in Indian traditions. Ultimately, my goal is to bridge science and compassion — to build a psychology that not only studies emotions but also nurtures those who experience them deeply, helping them find balance, resilience, and fulfilment in the process of caring.
