The Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) at Chanakya University successfully organized an insightful event on the occasion of Gurupūrṇimā, observed on the full moon day of Āṣāḍha month, falling on July 3, 2023. The day, also known as Vyāsa Pūrṇimā, honors the birth of the revered sage Vedavyāsa, who made profound contributions to Hindu traditions by compiling the Vedas, composing the Mahābhārata, Purāṇa, and the Brahmasūtra. The event featured an enriching online lecture dedicated to revisiting the attributes of a Guru through the life and teachings of Vedavyāsa. Renowned scholar Prof. H. V. Nagaraja Rao from Mysuru delivered an insightful talk on the topic “Vyāsa: The Great Preceptor” on July 3, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 am. The session attracted participants from diverse backgrounds, fostering a deeper understanding of the significance of Gurupūrṇimā and Vedavyāsa’s teachings. Dr. Ramakrishna Pejathaya, the Coordinator of the event, expressed gratitude to Prof. H. V. Nagaraja Rao and conveyed gratitude for his valuable contribution to the Gurupūrṇimā celebration at the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems. The event successfully upheld the tradition of honoring gurus and the rich cultural heritage associated with Vyāsa Pūrṇimā.
