Brief Description
The course provides a comprehensive overview of the aesthetic traditions of India and the West. Allied art forms such as literature, sculpture, painting, dance, drama, and music will be examined with reference to their governing principles. The perspectives of major aestheticians on the creation and enjoyment of art will be discussed through original texts.

About the instructor
Arjun Bharadwaj is an author, translator, and researcher with a deep interest in classical literature, arts, and philosophy. Trained as an engineer and holding a Master’s degree in Sanskrit, he is proficient in Sanskrit, Kannada, English, German, and Greek. His research focuses on the comparative aesthetics of classical Greek and Indian traditions.
A contributing editor at Prekshaa, Arjun has authored and translated numerous books and written over fifty research articles in the fields of literature, arts, and philosophy. He has taught and conducted workshops on subjects such as the Nāṭyaśāstra, Arthaśāstra, Sanskrit literature, Indian sciences, temple art, architecture, and iconography. In addition to his academic work, he composes poetry, writes lyrics for dance and theatre productions, and plays the Carnatic flute.
