An exchange program or short term visit is an academic arrangement that allows students to study at a partner university in another country for a semester or two. Through this program, students can experience a different cultural and educational environment while earning credits towards their degree at their home institution.

Even while studying abroad, you remain an enrolled student of Chanakya University, keeping your student status, including access to university resources and support services.
Credit Transfer
Courses taken at the partner university are pre-approved (before departure) to count towards your degree at Chanakya University. Your time abroad contributes directly to your academic progress.
Regular Tuition Fees
You will continue to pay your regular tuition fees to Chanakya University, avoiding the potentially higher costs of international tuition. Making makes the exchange program more affordable and straightforward.

Steps to enrol for SEP:
The Student Exchange Program (SEP) includes administrative support from both Chanakya University and the host university to facilitate credit transfer and tuition fee waivers. To ensure a smooth transition for students between the two educational systems, with support for VISA approvals for international travel, a clear and prior communication between both institutions is essential.

Finding Host University
We are collaborating with partner universities for SEP, and list all our exchange partners on our website, with information about the universities, availability, and whether they accept students from any or only specific disciplines of study.
You can search for opportunities and contact potential host universities directly, based on your academic interests. Our office will offer guidance and administrative support once your academic plans are approved and the potential benefits are assessed.
Matching Up Your Semesters
Semester dates may vary depending on the university of your choice. For instance, while the semester at Chanakya University may start in January, a partner university in Finland might begin in August. You can check the partner university’s semester dates and select the appropriate one.
Financial Aspects
Studying overseas for a semester can be affordable with good planning. The early international experience and exposure will boost your confidence and open future academic opportunities. You may qualify for scholarships from partner universities, and economical student housing can reduce costs. Under our exchange arrangements, you only pay your regular Chanakya University tuition fees and a possible nominal registration fee at the partner university. However, you will need to cover visa fees, airfare, accommodation, and meals.
Important Points
Please note that Chanakya University students will be able to go on exchange to partner universities, after prior approval of their academic department and Academic Affairs Office. These checkpoints and approval systems ensure the quality of SEP, minimizing the post-program hassle for students.
These approvals are provided after matching academic programs and with confirmation that the coursework selected by students at partner universities aligns with the academic interest at Chanakya University and the credit transferred will count towards your degree at Chanakya University.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible to participate in SEP, you must meet the following criteria presented listed below. Please note that for some disciplines, the minimum requirements may differ, decided by the administrative department.
General Eligibility
- Minimum GPA: 7.5+ or equivalent (May be relaxed based on the host university)
- Attendance: 75% attendance while applying & the semester before departure.
- Language Proficiency: Depending on the host university’s requirements.
- Semester: During the final semester, students should be on campus. Student should have completed at least one semester at Chanakya University before applying for exchange program.
Plan Ahead
You will need to apply for the program one year in advance. For example, if you plan to go on exchange in Semester 1, 2025, you will need to apply in Semester 1, 2024. Be advised that the application process, approval by Partner University & Chanakya University and VISA process take time. Consider the cost of living in different countries, food habits and airfare before finalizing your host university.

Based on the host university, you need to apply to either our office or the host university:
- Submit applications directly to partner institutes where the applications are received directly, you may consult our office for support.

After You Apply
For direct application to the host university, our office is not involved, Chanakya University will verify the course taken and host university credentials (points 1 & 2). If our office manages the application, further steps will involve regarding nominations (3 & 4):
- Department Assessment: Confirmation that the proposed units in your study plan and your course progression plan can be approved.
- Chanakya University SEP Assessment: Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements.
- Nominations sent to the Host university after screening
- Host University Approve and Communicate to student/ Chanakya University for the next step
Once these steps are confirmed, you will progress to the next phase of mobility.
Withdrawing Your Application
You may withdraw your application anytime before the deadline. However, once you have applied and subsequently wish to withdraw, notify the relevant Coordinator at the office, as soon as possible.
Once you are nominated and withdraw afterwards for reasons not considered as extenuating circumstances, you may not be able to reapply for the next application round.
After selection by a partner university, if you decide to withdraw, you may not be able to apply again.

Credit Transfer Guidelines
For each of the courses, students seeking credit transfer should email their respective School Dean with the Title of the Course, Credits, Faculty, Platform and a complete copy of the course syllabus and seek permission for credit transfer.
The Deans may forward the student requests to the Dean, Academic Affairs, along with the following:
Dean’s recommendation for credit transfer and the number of credits to be transferred for each specific course
Name of the faculty who has been assigned responsibility for the conduct of in-house evaluation for each course and the proposed evaluation scheme
The Dean, Academic Affairs, shall place the School Deans’ recommendation in front of the Equivalence Committee and upon approval create a course instance with the code “EXT” on Digii Campus ERP.
The credits shall be transferred only after the faculty assigned for evaluating the course clears the student evaluations on Digii Campus similar to how offline course evaluations are cleared.
The Equivalence Committee shall retain the right to reject credit transfer requests.
