SBS, Chanakya University, hosted a faculty interaction with Dr. Chaker El Kalamouni and Dr. Dani Osman from the University of La Réunion, France, to explore opportunities for collaborative research in infectious diseases and antiviral drug discovery.
The discussion highlighted ongoing work on plant-derived small molecules from indigenous medicinal plants of La Réunion that have shown promising broad-spectrum antiviral activity against viruses such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. The meeting also introduced ILADE, an Indo-French initiative coordinated by Dr. El Kalamouni that integrates artificial intelligence with medicinal plant research for the discovery of novel therapeutic compounds.
Faculty members discussed potential avenues for joint research projects, to strengthen an academic partnership between Chanakya University and the University of La Réunion.
