International Conference on Climate Adaptation and Resilience for a Sustainable Planet (ICARS 2026)
The International Conference on Climate Adaptation and Resilience for a Sustainable Planet (ICARS 2026) was successfully organized by Chanakya University, Bengaluru, on 19th and 20th February 2026. Held in association with BRICS and in partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and EMPRI, the conference served as a premier global platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on climate change.
ICARS 2026 brought together over 150 delegates, including international scientists from the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (KarRC RAS), leading Indian academicians, policymakers, industry experts, and student researchers. The conference focused on climate-resilient agriculture, urban water sustainability, soil health, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), AI and ML for sustainable innovation, disaster risk reduction, and nature-based solutions.
The conference was structured into three technical sessions. Day 1 focused on Water and Policy Integration; Day 2 covered Technology and Biodiversity. A total of 23 research papers and 18 posters were presented across four parallel tracks: Climate Trends & Governance; Smart Agriculture; AI & Digital Sustainability; and IKS & Ecological Wisdom.
The conference concluded with the distribution of best paper and poster awards. Top honours went to Aaliya Aadiya (BGS National Public School) for the EcoGuard platform, Aniruddha L Bhide (Chanakya University) for automated metadata enrichment using LLMs, and Anusha M. Virupannavar for research on National Green Tribunal contributions.
