The music club Ragamaalika was inaugurated on 12th March at 3:00 PM. The ceremony opened with Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma, performed before the lighting of the lamp and aarthi to Devi Saraswathi. Ms. Manasi Prasad, a classical vocalist, presided as the inaugurating guest.
Students paid tribute to Indian classical music through devotional offerings, and the proceedings were anchored by a Pillari Geethe of Sri Purandara Dasa, the customary first step into classical learning. Ms. Prasad led a teaching session on the composition Tamburi Meetidava, going through its nuances in detail with the students. The session drew real participation and set the tone for what the club intends to be: a place for genuine musical learning, not just performance. Ragamaalika is conceived as a space where students can develop musical literacy, treating Indian classical music as a living form of knowledge rather than a formal requirement.
