National Sports Day 2025

The Division of Physical Education and Sports Sciences celebrated National Sports Day 2025 on 29th August to honour the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and to promote fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship across the campus.

The celebrations began with a spirited 3K Run, flagged off at 7:00 AM by Prof. Anil Kumar Garg. Students, faculty, and staff participated enthusiastically across age groups, reassembling at the Flag Post by 7:50 AM in a vibrant show of energy and community spirit.

The formal program commenced at 8:00 AM with a welcome to athletes and attendees. Ms. Prithika (2nd Year BA Civils) highlighted the significance of the day, emphasizing the values of discipline, health, and unity. This was followed by an inspiring Guest Talk by Registrar Prof. Sushant Joshi, who underscored the role of sports in holistic development and encouraged students to actively embrace physical activity.

The event also featured the launch of the #SportsForAll initiative and the official commencement of Intramural 2025, further embedding sports into campus life. Winners of the 3K Run and the Quiz Competition were felicitated during the prize distribution ceremony, motivating wider participation.

Adding to the celebrations, a series of 1-minute recreational and challenge games were organized from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, drawing enthusiastic engagement and fostering inclusivity.

The day concluded with gratitude to the organizing committee, faculty, and volunteers. The celebrations not only honoured Major Dhyan Chand’s legacy but also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to building a vibrant sports culture.
