A One-day Workshop on Word Creation in Sanskrit

Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, Chanakya University conducted One-day Workshop on Word Creation in Sanskrit with financial assistance from Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (BBS), Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, and in association with Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Govt. of India, Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha at Poornaprajna Research Centre, Bengaluru on 03rd January 2023.

Sri Sri Vishwaprasannatirtha Shreepadaru inaugurated the workshop and blessed the participants in his benedictory speech. Vid. Janardana Hegade (Editor, Sambhashana Sandesha, Bengaluru) discussed the points to be kept in mind while coining the words with several examples.

Shatavadhani Dr. R. Ganesh (well-known scholar) explained how he tackled the challenges while coining some new Sanskrit words in the area of engineering.


Dr. Ramakrishna Pejathaya (Associate Professor, Chanakya University) explained the background and need of the shabdashala project of CSTT, and moderated the practical session.


Dr. Vinayak Rajat Bhat (Associate Professor, Chanakya University) explained the potential of Sanskrit and Panini Vyakarana in forming thousands of words.


Prof. Satyanarayana Acharya (Principal, Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha) and Dr. Vinayachandra Banavathy (Director, Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, Chanakya University) also enriched the workshop with their valuable input.


The workshop was conducted in three sessions of interactions followed by a practical session. More than 60 participants ardently participated in the workshop.
