About the Workshop

International Relations as a discipline is shaped by competing theoretical traditions, methodological approaches, and global knowledge hierarchies. Yet, despite India’s growing role in world affairs, there remains a pressing need to cultivate research methodologies and analytical frameworks rooted in India’s own intellectual traditions, strategic experiences, and policy realities. This three-day residential national workshop (travel support and accommodation for selected participants, as per institutional norms) seeks to address this gap by bringing together emerging scholars in International Relations and allied disciplines for intensive engagement with questions of research design, theory-building, methodological rigor, evidence-based inquiry, and policy relevance from an India-centric perspective. The workshop combines conceptual lectures, methodological training, participant paper discussions, and interactive sessions led by leading scholars, practitioners, and policy experts.
