Chanakya University’s Subhas Chandra Bose Chair of International Relations (School of Law, Governance and Public Policy) has secured a grant of ₹3.41 lakh from the Centre for Military Diplomacy and Research (CMDR) to organise the inaugural “Chanakya Forum on China”, scheduled for 16–17 September 2026 at Chanakya University, Bengaluru.
Titled “Geopolitics in Flux: Engaging China in a Reconfiguring World Order,” the two-day forum seeks to provide a focused platform for informed and substantive dialogue on China’s evolving role in regional and global affairs, its implications for India, and the pathways available for engaging with China in a rapidly changing international environment.
The grant was secured by Prof. Chetan Singai [Member Secretary, SCB Chair of IR and Dr. Nishit Kumar (Assistant Professor at the Subhas Chandra Bose Chair of International Relations). The forum is being organised under the leadership of Ambassador Ashok Kantha, Chair Professor of the Subhas Chandra Bose Chair of International Relations and former Ambassador of India to China.
The invite-only forum will bring together leading scholars, practitioners, former diplomats, military professionals, and China specialists for closed-door discussions under the Chatham House Rule. The deliberations will examine a range of issues concerning India–China relations, China’s regional and global engagements, strategic competition and cooperation, and the changing contours of the international order.
The inaugural Chanakya Forum on China marks an important step in strengthening Chanakya University’s institutional engagement with China studies and India–China relations. It reflects the University’s commitment to creating spaces for rigorous, independent and policy-relevant scholarship and dialogue on one of the most consequential relationships shaping India’s strategic environment and the wider global order.
