What you’ll do

Most people navigate life — and business — by copying what those around them are doing. They optimise for existing paths rather than asking whether those paths lead anywhere worth going. Beyond Linear is a studio that refuses to start from that assumption.

This is a 6-day intensive that equips you with three of the most powerful strategic frameworks of the last two decades — Ikigai and Massive Transformative Purpose, Exponential Organisations (ExO), and Blue Ocean Strategy — treated not as MBA theories but as practical tools for designing a remarkable life and, if you choose, a remarkable venture.

The studio’s defining design principle is the Dual Lens: every framework is applied twice — once inward (How does this shape how I live, work, and grow?) and once outward (How does this shape a business or organisation I might build?). This means the studio is equally valuable to a student with no intention of starting a company and one who has already written a pitch deck.

What you’ll walk away with

By the end of six days, you will be able to:

  • Map your own Ikigai — identifying the precise intersection of passion, skill, social need, and economic value — and articulate how it informs your life decisions
  • Craft a personal Massive Transformative Purpose (MTP) statement: specific, audacious, and defensible under peer challenge
  • Analyse an organisation through the ExO framework and identify which SCALE and IDEAS attributes drive its growth — and which are missing
  • Apply ExO thinking to your own life: identify systems, communities, and leverage points that enable non-linear personal growth
  • Construct an ERRC Grid and Strategy Canvas for a business idea or a career move, identifying a genuine blue ocean rather than incremental improvement
  • Integrate all three frameworks into a coherent Life & Venture Blueprint and present it in a structured, persuasive 5-minute Ignite pitch

What you’ll make

By Day 6, you will have produced a Life & Venture Blueprint — a single, integrated strategic document connecting your purpose to a market position to a 90-day action plan — and presented it live at the Ignite Showcase.

The Blueprint is a single A2/A3 visual document — hand-drawn, printed, or digitally designed — integrating the full arc of the studio:

  • Ikigai Canvas with all four circles fully mapped and intersections identified
  • Personal MTP statement (one sentence) with a supporting rationale paragraph
  • ExO Attribute Map — applied to personal life and/or a business idea
  • ERRC Grid + Strategy Canvas — for a career move, a venture, or a side project
  • 90-day Action Plan: three specific, measurable commitments to be acted on immediately

Your six days

Day 1
Mon, 20 Jul
The Four Circles Map your Ikigai across love, skill, need, and value — and surface the five non-negotiables that will anchor every decision you make.
Day 2
Tue, 21 Jul
One Sentence That Changes Everything Draft, battle-test, and finalise your Massive Transformative Purpose under live peer fire until it’s specific enough to be dangerous.
Day 3
Wed, 22 Jul
Think in Exponentials Decode how the world’s fastest-growing organisations are built using the ExO framework — then apply the same logic to your own life.
Day 4
Thu, 23 Jul
Make Competition Irrelevant Use the Blue Ocean ERRC Grid to design a move — in your career or your venture — that sidesteps the crowd entirely.
Day 5
Fri, 24 Jul
The Red Thread Stitch Ikigai, MTP, ExO, and Blue Ocean into one coherent Life & Venture Blueprint through deep-work and a peer coaching session.
Day 6
Sat, 25 Jul
Declare It Pitch your Blueprint live to a room of strangers, answer one hard question you didn’t prepare for, and leave with a sealed commitment you’ll open in 90 days.

Sessions run full-day (approx. 10am–5pm) with intermittent breaks. No more than 90 minutes of theory per day; the rest is structured activity, peer challenge, and individual synthesis.

How you’ll be assessed

Assessment rewards depth of thinking and honest iteration, not polished performance.

  • Daily synthesis log (25%) — Each evening, a one-page entry: the most important insight from the day, one thing you are revising in your Blueprint, and one question you are sitting with. Assessed for intellectual honesty and evidence of evolving thinking.
  • Dual Lens application quality (25%) — Across Days 1–4, the facilitator assesses how well you apply each framework to both personal and business contexts — not for correctness, but for depth, specificity, and creative stretch.
  • Life & Venture Blueprint (30%) — Final integrated document assessed on coherence between frameworks, specificity of the 90-day plan, clarity of the MTP, and evidence of genuine iteration across the week. Early drafts must be included to show the evolution.
  • Ignite Showcase pitch (20%) — Assessed on clarity and conviction of your MTP, logical connection between frameworks, and the quality of one unscripted Q&A response.
