Dr. Shamika Ravi

Dr. Shamika Ravi is a distinguished economist and public policy expert, currently serving as a Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC‑PM) and as a Secretary to the Government of India. Her work focuses on development economics, covering areas such as finance, healthcare, urbanisation, gender equality, poverty, and welfare policies.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Ravi served as Director of Research at Brookings India, Vice President – Economic Policy at the Observer Research Foundation, and Non‑Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC. She has over two decades of experience teaching postgraduate courses in economics at institutions including the Indian School of Business and BITS School of Management.
Dr. Ravi holds a PhD in Economics from New York University, a Master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics, and a BA (Honours) in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College. Her research is widely published and frequently cited in global academic and policy discourse.
