Bose Monthly Webinar – Building a Resilient India-Bangladesh Economic Relations

The Subhas Chandra Bose Chair of International Relations at Chanakya University is pleased to host a webinar by Prof. Mustafizur Rehman on the theme of Building a resilient India – Bangladesh Economic Relations. The webinar will delve into the dynamics of cross border economic relations between the two countries, how it has evolved over time and what are some of the current challenges. The nature of economic relations between India and Bangladesh has diversified in the last few years covering areas such as energy supplies, electricity trade, digital payment mechanisms, agricultural research and capacity development. The relationship in the economic sphere benefits from geographical proximity, historical ties and complementary economic structures.

However, the bilateral economic relations have also suffered certain setbacks owing to regional and global geopolitical developments. In this webinar, renowned economist Prof. Mustafizur Rehman will present his thoughts on some of these issues and what can be done to overhaul the recent trade trends and infuse an element of resilience in the two countries’ economic relations. Prof. Rehman is a Distinguished Fellow at Centre for Policy Dialogue in Bangladesh and brings with him decades of experience in analysing economic and trade trends. He has been a member of high-profile study groups and panels for several of Bangladesh’s Five-year plans, trade matters and reforms commission.
