14th DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Annual Conclave 2026

Dr. Sanjukta Mukherjee, Faculty at SBS, showcased the research milestones achieved under her DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Intermediate Fellowship at the 14th DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Annual Conclave 2026, themed “Milestones to Momentum,” held from 15–17 July 2026 at the Holiday Inn New Delhi International Airport, Aerocity, New Delhi.

The Conclave commenced with the launch of Phase III of the Biomedical Research Career Programme (BRCP), followed by inspiring Lightning Talks by Early Career Fellows and poster presentations highlighting cutting-edge research from across the India Alliance fellowship portfolio.

During the Conclave, Dr. Sanjukta presented the progress of her research project, “Recognition of RNA Structural Motifs by Bespoke Small Molecules to Interrogate and Modulate RNA–RBP Interactions Associated with Phase-Separated Toxic Aggregate Formation,” supported through the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Intermediate Fellowship for annual review by exparts.

Her presentation highlighted the development of RNA-targeted small-molecule fluorescent probes for the selective recognition of r(CAG)exp RNA, the pathogenic RNA repeat underlying a group of rare hereditary neurodegenerative disorders collectively known as polyglutamine (polyQ) disorders. The work aims to advance innovative chemical biology tools for visualizing disease-associated RNA structures and ultimately enable the development of targeted therapeutic strategies for currently untreatable neurological diseases
