The Women Cell of the University observed International Women’s Day on 12th March 2026 under the theme “From Shristi to Samruddhi, Celebrating the Journey of Women.” The programme combined cultural performance with substantive conversation about women’s contributions to Indian life, past and present. Chief Guest Ms. Manasi Prasad spoke about gender partnership and the importance of amplifying women’s voices across every sphere. Dr. Shobana Padmanabham, who presided, expressed her hope for greater women’s representation in institutional leadership. The cultural programme included a rangoli competition and a dramatic portrayal of the Pancha Kanyas, Ahalya, Draupadi, Sita, Mandodari and Tara. These five figures from Indian epic tradition each represent, in different ways, strength and moral complexity. The evening closed with a dance performance.
