The School of Biosciences hosted Session 41 of the Research Exchange Forum on February 13, 2026, welcoming Dr. Ani Deshpande, Professor at Sanford Burnham Prebys, California. His talk took the audience on a compelling journey through one of humanity’s greatest, yet most uncelebrated, transformations. Dr. Deshpande vividly contrasted a world where minor infections routinely proved fatal with the quiet revolution of scientific ingenuity that dismantled that reality. He spotlighted the unsung researchers whose collective work reshaped human survival, urging attendees to recognise science not as textbook knowledge, but as history’s most consequential force. The first of a two-part Discovery Dialogues Series, the session left the room both humbled and electrified.
