Applications are invited from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Research Associate-1 (or postdoctoral fellow) and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance sponsored research project entitled “Recognition of RNA structural motifs by bespoke small-molecules to interrogate and alter RNA-RBP interactions associated with phase-separated toxic aggregate formation” under the supervision of Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Sanjukta Mukherjee Associate Professor, School of Biosciences (SBS), Chanakya University, Devanahalli, Bangalore.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications for the position of Research Associate-I (or postdoctoral position)

Essential Qualifications:

  1. PhD in any branches of Chemistry from any recognized University/Institute
  2. Two first authored publication in peer-reviewed journal

Desirable qualifications:

  1. Candidates with hands-on experience in Organic synthesis and organic spectroscopy (NMR/Mass/IR/HPLC). Candidates having experience in handling various biophysical instrument (SPR/CD/UV-vis/fluorescence spectroscopy) and/or experience in handling RNA samples will be given preference.
  2. Candidates with their own fellowship will get preference.

Duration of the project: Till March 2029, to be extended annually based on fund availability as well as a satisfactory assessment of progress. 

Remuneration: Remuneration will be commensurate with expertise and experience and as per host institute/DST/DBT approved norms.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF):

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (MSc/M.Pharm/M.Tech OR equivalent) in either Chemistry/Chemical Science/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemist and/or in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetic and related field with a National Level Test (CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/ DST-INSPIRE/DBT/ICMR Fellowship) qualification.

Desirable qualifications:

  1. Candidates with 1-3 years of research experience in the academic laboratory/industry.
  2. Candidates with Master’s degree in Chemistry/Chemical Science/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry with proficiency or hands-on experiences in organic synthesis and organic spectroscopy (column chromatography/HPLC/NMR/Mass/IR etc.).
  3. For candidates with Master’s degree in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics/ Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics with experience in cell culture and/or various molecular biology technique (qPCR, RT-PCR, Western blotting, Transfection/transduction).
  4. Candidates with hands-on experience in fluorescence spectroscopy/confocal microscopy, prior experience in various biophysical experiments (e.g., SPR, CD, UV, FL etc.) and/or handling RNA samples will be given preference.
  5. Team player and willingness to learn.
  6. Commitment for long-term research and suitable candidates will be enrolled for the PhD program at the University.

Duration of the project: The position will be available initially for one year and can be extended based on the performance.

Remuneration: As per host institute/CSIR/DST/DBT/ICMR approved norms.
