Applications are invited for the position of (I) Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and (II) Project assistant in the School of Biosciences at Chanakya University, Devanahalli. The successful candidates will participate in the ongoing research projects of the faculty and provide support for the operations of the laboratory and the school. The positions are purely temporary and coterminous with the project. The position will be available initially for one year and can be extended based on the performance.

(I) Essential and Desirable Qualifications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF):

Essential Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree (MSc/M.Pharm/M.Tech OR equivalent) in Chemistry/Chemical Science/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemist and/or Life Sciences/Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetic and related field.
2. Candidates with Master’s degree in Chemistry/Chemical Science/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry with proficiency or hands-on experiences in organic synthesis and organic spectroscopy (column chromatography/HPLC/NMR/Mass/IR etc.).
3. For candidates with Master’s degree in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics/ Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics with experience in cell culture and/or various molecular biology technique (qPCR, RT-PCR, Western blotting, Transfection/transduction and so on).
4. Candidates with a National Level Test (CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/ DST-INSPIRE/DBT/ICMR Fellowship) qualification will be highly preferred. However, Chanakya University will provide a few fellowships for outstanding candidates.

• Desirable qualifications:

1. Candidates with 1-3 years of research experience in the academic laboratory/industry.
2. Candidates with hands-on experience in fluorescence spectroscopy/confocal microscopy, and prior experience in various biophysical experiments and/or handling RNA samples will be given preference.
3. Team player and willingness to learn.
4. Commitment for long-term research and suitable candidates will be enrolled for the PhD program at the University.

Duration of the project: The position will be available initially for one year and can be extended based on the performance.

Remuneration: Remuneration will be commensurate with expertise and experience and as per host institute/CSIR/DST/DBT/ICMR approved norms.

(III) Essential and Desirable Qualifications for the position of Project Assistant:

Essential Qualifications: Master’s degree (MSc/M.Pharm/M.Tech or equivalent) in Chemistry/Chemical Science/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemist/Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetic and related field with at least 1-2 years of research experience in academic laboratory/industry.

Desirable qualifications:

1. Candidates with hands-on experience in fluorescence spectroscopy/confocal microscopy and/or handling RNA samples will be given preference.
2. Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Office packages.
3. Good organizational and prioritization skills, ability to maintain accurate records.
4. Team player and willingness to learn.

Duration of the project: The position will be available initially for one year and can be extended based on the performance.

Remuneration: Remuneration will be commensurate with expertise and experience and as per. Host institution’s norm.
