Raghuram is Professor (Emeritus) at the Gujarat Maritime University and a distinguished Visiting Faculty of the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya of the Ministry of Railways. 

He has been Director, IIM Bangalore, from February 2017 to July 2020. Prior to that, he was Professor and Chairperson of the Public Systems Group at IIM-A. He has been Dean (Faculty), IIM-A, Vice-Chancellor of the Indian Maritime University, and Indian Railways Chair Professor at IIM-A.  

He specializes in Infrastructure and Transport Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He is an avid researcher on Railways, Ports, Shipping, Aviation, and Road Sectors. He has been and continues to be part of various government and institutional policy-making and advisory committees and of Company Boards.

Raghuram has a BTech from IIT, Madras; a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad; and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, USA.
