LL.M., Azim Premji UniversityMs. Susmitha P an emerging scholar interested in Humanitarian Law, Civil Wars, Cultural Anthropology, Law and Violence, and Climate Justice. Adopting an interdisciplinary perspective, she seeks to explore how legal systems interact with social, cultural, and environmental forces in shaping human lives during conflict and crisis. Her work focuses on understanding the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, the moral and political dimensions of civil wars, and the lived experiences of communities affected by violence and displacement. Recently, her research has expanded to include the legal and ethical challenges of climate justice, emphasizing the integration of human rights, indigenous perspectives, and environmental sustainability into global legal frameworks.
Kum. P. Susmitha is a dedicated legal scholar with expertise in law and public policy. She holds an LL.B. from BMS College of Law, Bengaluru, and an LL.M. from Azim Premji University, where her research focused on a feminist critique of the Just War Doctrine in Humanitarian Law. She has taught courses in Legal Methods, Family Law, Public International Law, and International Trade Economics in Private law colleges affiliated to Karnataka State Law University. She was a co-editor to the law journal in the previous institution. Her research interests include Humanitarian Law, Climate Justice, and Cultural Legal Anthropology. She has presented a paper on the topic of Liminal Spaces at the University of Birmingham and contributed to the Climate Justice Project at Azim Premji University.
