Guest Lecture on integrative stroke rehabilitation by Dr. Archana Purushotham
Date:11-06-2026Dr. Archana Purushotham, Chief Medical Director of Svatantra, who is also a Neurologist and Stroke Specialist on the faculty of the Baylor College of Medicine, USA delivered a guest lecture at SBS. Dr. Purushotham delivered an engaging lecture on the evolving landscape of stroke rehabilitation and shared her experiences as co-founder of Svatantra Neurorehabilitation Centre. She highlighted how science-backed, personalized rehabilitation programs that integrate complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) with conventional neurological care can enhance patient recovery and improve long-term outcomes. Her presentation emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in addressing the physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges faced by stroke survivors.
The session provided students with valuable insights into clinical rehabilitation practices, translational neuroscience, and patient-centred care. The interactive discussion that followed saw enthusiastic participation from students, who raised thought-provoking questions on rehabilitation strategies, multidisciplinary treatment models, and emerging research directions in neurorehabilitation.
