Invited Talk by Prof. Subha Srinivasan
Date:24-02-2026Prof. Subha Srinivasan, Honorary Visiting Professor, at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), is a distinguished bioinformatics scientist with deep expertise in genomics, next-generation sequencing, transcriptome analysis, and computational biology. Her research broadly focuses on extracting novel biological insights from large-scale genome and transcriptome data using advanced bioinformatics approaches. She and her team apply genomics and data science methods to areas such as cancer biomarker discovery, plant genome assembly and improvement, metagenomics, and vector genomics in infectious diseases like malaria.
In her recent talk at SBS on “Extracting unique insights from assembled genomes”, Prof. Subha emphasized how de novo and reference-based assembly of genomes and transcriptomes are crucial in applications ranging from drug discovery to crop enhancement, disease mechanism studies, and vector biology.
