    My research centers on developing algorithms and hardware architectures for energy-efficient, event-driven intelligence at the edge. As sensor-rich embedded systems continue to evolve, the demand for local, real-time processing grows. I explore how asynchronous data, including inputs from neuromorphic vision sensors, can be processed using spiking neural networks and other sparse computing methods.

    My current focus is on digital implementations of these models, optimized for low-latency, low-power operation in applications such as anomaly detection and context-aware systems. I also design quantized and approximate learning algorithms tailored for deployment on constrained digital hardware platforms like FPGAs and ASICs.

    By combining algorithmic design with hardware validation, my work supports systematic exploration of power, memory, and throughput trade-offs. The goal is to enable scalable, adaptive, and always-on edge intelligence through robust and efficient computational architectures.

    Pradeep Kumar Gopalakrishnan has over 30 years of industry and research experience in electronics engineering, with expertise in ASICs, FPGAs, and embedded systems.

    He holds a Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; an M.Tech. in Electronics Design & Technology from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kerala.

    Pradeep has held technical leadership roles in global corporations and premier research organizations, including Xilinx, Siemens, Philips, Broadcom, and the Institute of Microelectronics in Singapore. Through these roles, he has built a track record of leading collaborative research projects that bridge academia and industry. His expertise spans low-power IC design, neuromorphic computing, machine learning, and embedded systems.
